The constitutionally enshrined property rights guaranteed by patents are vitally important to American economic growth and innovation, and around the world the strength of patents is recognized as a key indicator of a country’s democratic values and economic fairness. With these beliefs in mind, Patenttruth.org was launched as a forum for discussion of patent policy and patent law. Our goal is to bring historical context, empirical study and a dispassionate look at the facts amid the often histrionic debate over patent litigation and the economic role of patents.

PatentTruth.org is sponsored by Qualcomm Inc., a company that would not have been able produce some of the world’s most widely used wireless technologies without patent protection for its inventions. But our aim, as our name implies, is to bring truth rather than advocacy to the national discussion of intellectual property protection in as open, plain and clear a way as we can.
